according to her obituary.<\/a> As an adult, she offered those same childhood memories of Scribner Avenue to her children, her grandchildren, and her sibling\u2019s children. <\/p>\nThe fourth daughter of Rose (formerly Caporale) and Anthony Fressola, Mazzitelli was a graduate of Curtis High School and Hunter College, where she earned both her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degree in education. <\/p>\n
Mazzitelli worked at two Staten Island schools over the course of her career \u2014 P.S. 34 and P.S. 13 \u2014 where she served as a teacher. <\/p>\n
She additionally held an administrative role at P.S. 13, where she earned her Teacher of the Year award in 1984; just two years before her retirement in 1986. <\/p>\n
In 1952, she married Louis Mazzitelli, with whom she had two daughters with: Lois and Eva Lynn. <\/p>\n
They shared 35 years together before Louis passed away in 1987.<\/p>\n
In her retirement, she joined a variety of Staten Island organizations, including: The Women\u2019s Auxiliary at St. Vincent\u2019s Hospital \u2014 later, the RUMC Auxiliary \u2014 and Historic Richmond Town\u2019s Women\u2019s Auxiliary. <\/p>\n
She was also described as an enthusiastic reader by her loved ones. <\/p>\n
Following her teaching career, Mazzitelli \u2014 a lover of theater \u2014 attended many shows featured at Wagner College, Broadway, and New Jersey\u2019s Paper Mill Playhouse.<\/p>\n
Surviving her are her brother Michael, daughter Eva Lynn, son-in-law John Hayko, grandchildren Benjamin Louis and Emily Rose Forman, and great-grandson Henry Christopher. <\/p>\n
The family extended their gratitude to the healthcare team that tended to Mazzitelli, as well: Dr. Jomarie Zeleznik, Quindrella Woods, Vjoleta Note, and Safeharbor Healthcare Services, according to her obitary.<\/p>\n
Mazzitelli\u2019s funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Jan. 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. <\/p>\n
She will be laid to rest at Moravian Cemetery on Jan. 12. Her committal service will take place at 11:45 a.m. to noon. <\/p>\n
