Patrick McMullan via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Farkas was successfully confirmed along with a block of other ambassadorial candidates.<\/p>\n<p>It was also a good week for her hubby: A pal said of Somers\u2019 appointment: \u201cJonathan is especially excited because his mother, the late Ruth Farkas, was an ambassador to Luxembourg under President Nixon [from 1973 to 1976]. This is one of the first times in American history that a single family has produced two female ambassadors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan\u2019s latest Broadway show, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/09\/28\/entertainment\/chess-moves-back-to-broadway-40-years-after-debut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201cChess,\u201d starring Lea Michelle and Aaron Tveit<\/a>, also just started previews. The cult musical \u2014 which had only 68 regular performances on Broadway before closing in 1988 \u2014 is making a big comeback nearly 40 years later. <\/p>\n<p>Department store heir Jonathan is also a Broadway producer. Matthew Murphy<\/p>\n<p>It spawned a hit soundtrack by two members of ABBA, including the smash \u201cOne Night in Bangkok,\u201d which hit No. 3 in 1985 before the show\u2019s West End run in 1986. <\/p>\n<p>But the whole thing ultimately became more of an answer to a trivia question rather than a classic.<\/p>\n<p>The rejuvenated revival has a new book by \u201cEmpire\u201d co-creator Danny Strong, and had musical fans lining up for tickets as early as 3 a.m. outside the Imperial Theatre when they went on sale, we reported. <\/p>\n<p>The show briefly ran on Broadway in the \u201980s and spawned a pop hit.
