The Eagles held leading scorer Kelly Griffin Jr. (18.8 ppg.) to just seven points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TUPLTDSQJZAXVHRRSYDJDMUYHM\">\u201cI thought we did a great job of competing at both ends of the floor (Sunday)\u201a\u2019\u2019 said SP head coach Ryan Woods. \u201dWe were able to rebound and take advantage of our size. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BEKBIBANYND6HK3JPWGNZST6MM\">\u201c(6-foot-5 Schoenberg and 6-4 Vazquez) were both excellent and gave us a huge lift,\u2019&#8217; Woods added. \u201dOur defense has been solid and the boys are playing with great effort and focus.\u2019&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MSICG2ZCYRGB3LXOPOOPTFJHUA\">Thanks in part to Paige\u2019s three-point shooting, the Stanners owned a 30-28 lead at intermission. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MTLP3YFQWRASLHOMO5XCPOUN2U\">But the Eagles dug in defensively after halftime as they limited Molloy to 17 points over the last two quarters, including just four field goals. In the meantime, Christie nailed his last two treys and Schoenberg scored four points as the Eagles carried a 43-39 lead into the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SMVVGETHUZH4JGTDWYNBPB2AKQ\">Parlanti scored seven fourth-quarter points \u2014 including his lone three \u2014 and Ryan Freeman, Schoenberg and Vazquez each added key buckets as SP pulled away for the double-digit win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"W25BIDBX5FBTJLQHZKCNSWO4WE\">\u201cIn the second half, we got stops when we needed them,\u2019&#8217; praised Woods. \u201dIt\u2019s hard to win on the road in this league and it was really a great effort by the boys across the board.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BTNX4AJ23FBFPH3YAE7BUN7HR4\">The Eagles will have little time to rest on their laurels. They host Iona Prep Tuesday and St. Joseph by-the-Sea Thursday (both 7 p.m.). The New Brighton school then heads to Massachusetts for two games in the Panini Hoophall Invitational next weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZEO4XZNX4VEU7N6G4I3EXEWO7M\">Curtis 61, Truman 52<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GBF6RZS6YJAHVNE64DWT6QS4AY\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Makhiye Washington poured in a career-high 29 points and the Warriors pulled away with a big fourth-quarter en route to registering the non-league victory over the visiting Mustangs Saturday in St. George.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ABWYSCHURNG4FOU25PEM6P2I7E\">Washington, who surpassed his previous high by three points, finished with a season-high four three-pointers and canned 7 of 8 free throws for Curtis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DQBJSTISABCSBKMC2ZYMG6NF2Y\">Curtis Tiu (6 for 6 free throws), Jayden Melendez and Jayden Faulkner added 10 points apiece for the Warriors, who improved to 3-12 overall after winning for the second time in three games. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MG2IQPX7QRDVXO2BDO7JRYDG2Y\">Aiden Johnson (22 points) and Anderson Reyes Almonte (12 points) paced Truman, which dropped to 12-2 overall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TQN2ZIX5RNHPVHS4VUOFCPQCLU\">Washington, Melendez and Faulkner combined for 35 points through three quarters to help give the hosts a 41-37 advantage heading into the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ASF6LFZ2T5C43ORL2FUCRTZNW4\">The Warriors, who finished the game by sinking 15 of 16 free-throw attempts, were a perfect 10 for 10 from the charity stripe in the final quarter.
