A rescue effort is ongoing after a vehicle apparently went off I-376 (Parkway East) and into the Monongahela River on Thursday evening. A rescue effort is ongoing after a vehicle apparently went off I-376 (Parkway East) and into the Monongahela River on Thursday evening. One person has been taken to the hospital.

Sky 4 flew over the scene at the icy river near Second Avenue between the 10th Street and Hot Metal bridges in Pittsburgh.

Car into Mon River

Video showed emergency responders placing a ladder into the river just below the eastbound exit lane for Forbes Avenue/Oakland on the parkway.

A dive team has also responded. Lights were brought to the scene to assist rescuers as the sky turned dark Thursday night.
