PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania State Police announced major patrol vehicle upgrades that aim to improve safety and visibility.

The new features include V-shaped light bars with 360-illumination and a GPS communication system that syncs nearby patrol units for flash patterns and voice commands.

“These upgrades represent a major step forward in safety, visibility, and operational efficiency,” Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens said. “This department has long set the benchmark for professionalism and innovation, and with this cutting‑edge technology, we will continue to lead by example and set new standards for law enforcement across the nation.”

The department also unveiled sirens with a low frequency ‘rumbler’ device that should increase noise inside nearby vehicles by up to 10 decibels. The new sirens also give Troopers access to a selection of automated voice commands available in English or Spanish.
