Sophia Galko won two individual events and was a member of a winning relay to lead Scranton Prep to an 86-80 win over Abington Heights on Thursday night at the University of Scranton in a battle of Lackawanna League girls swimming unbeatens.
Galko won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke, and teamed with Eva Kaszuba, Ella Schofield and Anna Millett to win the 200 medley relay for the Classics (7-0).
The meet featured several exciting finishes with both teams having All-Region swimmers.
Galko edged Abington Heights senior Gianna Vachino to win the 100 fly. Rebecca Oakes, last season’s Times-Tribune Female Swimmer of the Year, touched ahead of Abington Heights’ Katie Giermanski and teammate Kaszuba to win the 50 free, and added a win in the 100 free.
Kaszuba and Schofield finished 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke for Scranton Prep.
Hadley Pallman won the 200 free and 500 free for Abington Heights (6-1). She was also the anchor swimmer for the Lady Comets’ thrilling wins in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
Pallman joined Vachino, Kacey Johnson, and Giermanski to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:45.70. The Lady Comets finished ahead of Scranton Prep’s team of Kaszuba, Myla Kopa, Schoefield and Oakes (1:45.87).
In the final race of the night, Vachino, Johnson, Reese Azar and Pallman won the 400 free relay in 3:59.66. Abington Heights touched the wall just ahead of Scranton Prep’s team of Millett, Kopa, Galko, and Oakes (4:00.91).

Elk Lake 101, Holy Cross 8: Brynn Warriner and Chelsea Grosvenor each won two individual events and were part of two winning relay teams to lead Elk Lake to a win.
Allison Long added two wins, McKenna Puterbaugh won the 500 freestyle and was part of two winning relays, and Avery Kerr won the 100 butterfly for the Lady Warriors.

Jason Casper and Derek Williams won a pair of individual events and were part of two winning relay teams to lead undefeated Abington Heights to a 119-45 win over Scranton Prep in the Lackawanna League.
Lukas Iannone won the 200 IM and 100 back to lead Scranton Prep, which suffered its first loss of the season.
