READING, Pa. – Reading’s mayor says a plan is in place to fill a void downtown.

During Friday’s State of the City Address, Mayor Eddie Moran said developer Alan Shuman is working on a project to build multi-family housing and stores in the 400 block of Penn Street.

The development will replace the historic buildings that the city tore down last year.

The city brought down two buildings because it said they posted an imminent risk to public safety.
