A former Easton Area Middle School principal is taking on another leadership role at a Lehigh Valley school.
Elise Jones was appointed principal of Fountain Hill Elementary School, Bethlehem Area School District announced Tuesday in a news release.
Jones most recently was Easton Area Middle School principal, and before that she led Paxinosa Elementary School, the release states. The district said Jones has 15 years of public education experience.
She headed various initiatives focused on closing achievement gaps, implementing trauma-informed practices, and fostering strong family and community partnerships, the release states. Her leadership style is described by the district as collaborative and student-centered.
“We are excited to welcome Ms. Jones to Fountain Hill Elementary,” Superintendent Jack Silva said in the release. “Her leadership experience, instructional expertise, and commitment to building strong school communities make her an outstanding addition to the BASD team.”
Jones has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wilkes University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and elementary education certification from Moravian University.
As principal, Jones will lead a school in transition. The old Fountain Hill Elementary School is being demolished, making way for a new, $60 million school on the same property. During the planned two-year project, Fountain Hill students are being bused to a temporary location.
