WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Hockey fans are supporting people in their fight against cancer in Luzerne County.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hosted a donation drive as a part of their Crosscheck Cancer Night, presented by Geisinger, Saturday night at Mohegan Arena.

Spectators brought a variety of supplies for cancer patients, including soft blankets, chapstick, slippers, hard candies, and more.

Jessica Hatton from Dayton, Ohio says, “We both have had someone close to us that have had cancer, and some of these same things. We really helpful and useful to them when they were in treatment, and we just thought it would be nice to give back and donate to other people.”

The Julia Hockey Mazur Foundation will distribute all donated items to hospitals throughout the region.
