The NBA announced on Saturday morning that Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George will be suspended for 25 games for violating the terms of the NBA’s’ anti-drug policy. His suspension will begin on Saturday when Philadelphia plays host to the New Orleans Pelicans.

George, in his second season with the Sixers, is averaging 16.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 42.4% from the floor and 38.2% from deep in 27 games. This is a big blow to the Sixers as they were just beginning to lay down the framework for chemistry and growth as a group.

With 35 games left in the season, George will not return from his suspension until the final 10 games of the season. The Sixers will need others to step up and produce in his absence.

Without George, the Sixers will look to guys like Kelly Oubre Jr. and Dominick Barlow to step in and produce on both ends of the floor.
