Ben Robinson led five players in double figures with a career-high 19 points as the University of Scranton downed Juniata College, 82-67, in a Landmark Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at the John Long Center.
Brendan Carr added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Royals (9-3 league, 16-3 overall), who led at halftime, 42-26. Will Marion chipped in 14 points, while Josias Carbon and Jon Spatola each contributed 10 points. Spatola also handed out 15 assists, which is one shy of the Scranton single-game record of 16 set by Mark Hutchinson on Feb. 14, 1983 against Elizabethtown.
Lackawanna 86, Middlesex 59: At Edison, New Jersey, Lackawanna College led by 15 at halftime, withstood a Middlesex College rally early in the second half, then pulled away late for a NJCAA Region 19 Division II victory.
Jahsan Simms scored a career-high 21 points for the Falcons (3-4, 12-9). Jaksa Pejovic followed with 20 points and Latrell Mark chipped in 16 points.
Centenary 87, Marywood 68: At Scranton, Centenary University used a 12-2 run midway through the second half to break a 51-51 tie and defeat Marywood University in an Atlantic East Conference game at Insalaco Arena.
Kenneth Rankin had a career-high 39 points for the Cyclones, who swept the season series from Marywood for the first time since 2022-23.
Collin Himmelberg led the Pacers (4-4, 11-8) with 20 points. Andrew Quinn added 16 points off the bench and Old Forge grad Joe Macciocco scored 13 points. Pedro Lugo grabbed eight rebounds.
St. Mary’s, Md. 67, Keystone 54: At Saint Marys City, Maryland, Keystone College lost a United East Conference game to St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Ahmodrion Jones had a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Giants (3-7, 5-16). Jden Golding added 12 points.
Women’s basketball
At Scranton, Kaci Kranson scored 21 points and Meghan Lamanna added 14 as the University of Scranton rolled over Juniata College, 87-38, in a Landmark Conference women’s basketball game Saturday at the John Long Center.
Kranson had 19 of her points and Lamanna all of hers in the first half as the second-ranked Lady Royals (12-0, 19-0) stormed to 47-10 halftime lead.
Sophia Talutto and Kelsey Miedreich contributed eight points apiece for Scranton, while Katie Gorski totaled five points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Centenary 68, Marywood 59: At Scranton, Marywood University lost to Centenary University in an Atlantic East Conference game at Insalaco Arena.
Megan Cavoli led the Pacers (4-4, 9-10) with a game-high 18 points. Anyah Ortiz added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
St. Mary’s, Md. 92, Keystone 28: At Saint Marys City, Maryland, St. Mary’s College of Maryland used a 15-0 run in the first quarter to break a 9-9 tie and go on its way to a United East Conference victory over Keystone College.
Phaneirra Barnett led the Lady Giants (3-8, 4-18) with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Middlesex 82, Lackawanna 46: At Edison, New Jersey, Lackawanna College managed just 14 points in the first half of a NJCAA Region 19 Division II loss to Middlesex College.
Canyah Randle led the Lady Falcons (3-9, 7-13) with 13 points. Alania Ortiz had 10 points and Abbie Larson nine.
Wrestling
At Williamsport, Keystone College lost to Penn College, 53-3. Nero Bono accounted for the Giants’ points with a 17-1 technical fall at 197 pounds.
Eastern 32, Lackawanna 20: At Scranton, Lackawanna College lost to Eastern University, 32-20, at the Lackawanna College Student Union.
Brodie Daugherty remained unbeaten (16-0) for the Falcons with a pin in 5:40 at 285 pounds. Matt Gashi-Brito (149) and Connor Ondek (157) won by major decision and Jeremiah Diaz had a pin at 184 pounds for Lackawanna.
