Carol A. Koch
OBITUARY
Carol A. Koch, 84, of Wernersville passed away peacefully at Phoebe Health Center on January 26 after a brief illness. She was the wife of Theodore R. Koch who died in 2001. Born in Pittsburgh on November 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Rev. William and E. Kathryn Marburger.
Carol graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1959 and Susquehanna University in 1963 with a degree in music education. Prior to her marriage, she worked as an instrumental music teacher at Blue Mountain. Carol then worked for CNA Insurance in Reading as a claims adjuster for several years before being relocated to Orlando, Florida.
Following her husband’s death, Carol returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. Carol’s strong faith guided her on a new journey in life. She enrolled at the Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia and in 2010 was commissioned as an Associate in Ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wernersville. Her call included Administrative Assistant, Bell Choir Director, and Parish Education Director. Later as a deacon, she was ordained to Word and Service on May 4, 2025 in the ELCA. Her love of music and her desire to bring a new ministry to Trinity lead her to establish the bell choir at the church. She will be missed by her church family.
Carol is survived by a sister, Mary Long of Wyomissing and two nephews, Jeffrey and Michael.
