Bryan Allen, a former two-term member of the Bensalem Township Council, announced Monday that he will run for state representative in the 18th House District.

Allen, a Democrat, is challenging Republican incumbent State Rep. K.C. Tomlinson in the district that includes Bensalem Township and Hulmeville Borough.

The matchup is expected to be one of the state’s most competitive legislative races heading toward the 2026 elections.

“I’ve dedicated my career to making our government work for people, not special interests,” Allen said. “I’m running because we deserve a representative in Harrisburg who will do the same.”

Allen serves as chief of staff to state Rep. Tina Davis and is the vice chair of the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority Board. He is also president of the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center.

During his time on the township council, Allen introduced the first casino tax rebate for residents and worked with colleagues to increase the credit. He also oversaw the approval a fire and emergency training facility and fought against urban sprawl.

A lifelong resident of Bucks County, Allen said his campaign will focus on economic relief and improving the quality of life for residents. His platform includes increasing state education funding, expanding Medicaid and healthcare access, and raising the minimum wage.

“Our community is diverse, dynamic and full of potential, but we are facing unprecedented economic challenges,” Allen said. “I am running to make it easier to live, work and raise a family here.”

Allen was raised in Bensalem Township by parents who were both union members. He graduated from Conwell-Egan Catholic School in 1996 and Bloomsburg University in 2001.

He has lived in Bensalem Township for 37 years and resides there with his wife and three school-age children.
