Moosic police charged two women in connection with a drug sweep at a hotel Jan. 18.

Belinda Cadwalder, 32, and Dakota Christie, 31, both of Scranton, face misdemeanor charges of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, filed Thursday.

According to a criminal complaint, Angelina Marie Moore, of Moosic, told staff at the Townplace Suites Hotel on Radcliffe Drive that someone had overdosed in one of the rooms she had rented.

Responding officers were able to get into the room and found Cadwalder, of 622 Ferdinand St., and Christie, of 934 Sanderson Ave., neither of whom had overdosed.

Police noted there was a glass pipe sitting next to a “line of white powder” in the room.

Both Cadwalder and Christie began yelling that the drugs weren’t theirs.

Hotel staff told officers that Moore had rented four rooms at the hotel, which she said were for family and friends who wanted to use the swimming pool for a few days.

Moore, 36, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia Jan. 18.

During an interview, Moore said Rafael Alvarez, 42, of Scranton, owned narcotics found in the hotel rooms.

Alvarez was charged with misdemeanor possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and related charges Jan. 18.

Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for Feb. 19 before District Judge Paul Keeler.

Caldwader and Christie have a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 19 before District Judge George Seig.
