Scott Gorham

December 11, 1955 – January 28, 2026

Scott Brady Gorham, 70, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born on December 11, 1955 at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., to Charles and Ellen (Dakin) Gorham. He spent his early childhood in Berea, Ohio, before moving with his family to Bloomington, Indiana, in 1969.

Scott graduated from Bloomington South High School in 1974 and was a lifelong learner. He earned a B.S. in Geology from Indiana University in 1978, followed by an M.A. in Geophysics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980, and later an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Houston in 1991. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career in geophysics, contributing his expertise at Exxon from 1981 to 1991 and later at Seneca Resources, where he worked until his retirement in 2020.

Scott was deeply devoted to his wife, Susan (Elder); a proud father to Alex (Courtnay) and Andy (Olivia); a loving Opa to his grandchildren, Brighton and Shepherd; and was proud to learn of another grandson on the way. He was known for his steady presence, thoughtful generosity, competitive spirit on the tennis and paddle court, dry wit, and enduring commitment to service-including his involvement with geophysical professional societies and the Unitarian Universalist church. He found great peace in the Canadian lake country and remained a passionate supporter of Indiana University throughout his life.

Scott faced cancer with courage and grace. He will be remembered with deep admiration and love by all who knew him.
Scott’s celebration of life is planned for Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills, 2359 W Ingomar Rd, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In keeping with his generous spirit, those wishing to honor Scott’s memory may make a donation, in lieu of flowers, to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, https://pancan.org/ways-to-give or to the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills, https://uucnh.org/online-giving
