Water main breaks continue to be reported around the Lehigh Valley on Monday after days of sub-freezing temperatures.

Monday marked the first time in days temperatures passed the 30-degree mark, but that did not stop additional water main breaks from occurring.

One break has closed East Emmaus Avenue in Salisbury Township between Potomac Street and South Dauphin Street, township police reported.

School buses and residents who live in the area will be able to pass through; however, the road will be closed to all other traffic, police said. The road is expected to reopen by 5 p.m.

Earlier Monday, a water main break was reported on the 2600 block of East Boulevard, between Johnston Drive and Lansdale Avenue, according to the Lehigh Valley Breaking News Facebook page.

The water main breaks Monday follow several that occurred over the weekend, including one in Easton and another in Lower Saucon Township. A burst pipe prompted the evacuation of an apartment complex Saturday in Northampton.

On Friday, a burst pipe flooded portions of the Kindness Project’s headquarters in Emmaus. The nonprofit that aids foster youth is seeking donations to help pay for cleanup costs.
