An Upstate NY resident has won $1 million in New York’s Million Dollar Raffle, claiming one of 15 top prizes awarded in the lottery’s promotional drawing.
Amritpal Singh purchased the winning ticket at A&A Food Mart in Painted Post. The raffle drawing took place on Oct. 26.
Singh, who lives in Painted Post, will receive $650,788 as a one-time lump sum payment following required tax withholdings.
The Million Dollar Raffle was created to commemorate the Erie Canal bicentennial. Fifteen tickets across New York were selected to win the $1 million top prize, with winning tickets sold in Bronx, Chenango, Dutchess, Genesee, New York, Queens, Schenectady, Suffolk and Westchester counties, in addition to Steuben County.
