READING, Pa. — Emergency responders were on the scene of a gas leak in Reading on Monday night.
UGI crews were working on an active gas leak in the 100 block of West Douglass Street, according to a UGI spokesperson.
Forty people were evacuated, UGI said. It was not yet determined how many homes were impacted.
A warming shelter was set up for those temporarily displaced.
Officials also cut electricity in the area as crews worked. More than 800 customers were without power in the area, according to MetEd.
