SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office tells NewsChannel 9 that one person is dead after an early morning car accident.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 between West Genesee Street and South Geddes Street, near the Tipperary Hill area.

While on scene, a NewsChannel 9 photographer saw a utility pole down, with power lines hanging low. Investigators can be seen on video gathering near the area.

According to the National Grid outage map, that part of the road is without power, and over a dozen people are impacted.

The area will be closed until further notice. The sheriff’s office suggests that drivers find an alternative route.
