Two men are hospitalized, police said, after they were shot while sitting in a vehicle in Philadelphia’s Frankford section early Tuesday.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a hospital in Philly’s Frankford community at about 1:24 a.m. on Tuesday, after two men walked into the medical facility after being shot.

The men, both 19-years-old, told officers that they were sitting in a vehicle near the intersection of Tackawanna and Fillmore streets that evening when they were engaged in a conversation with two other unknown men, officials said.

However, as they spoke, police said, a third unknown man approached the vehicle and knocked on the vehicle’s driver’s side window.

Shortly after knocking on the window, officials said, the unidentified gunman produced a firearm and fired into the vehicle, striking both men.

The men then drove themselves to the hospital for treatment.

One victim, police said, had been shot in both arms and his right shoulder while the other suffered a gunshot wound to his right knee.

Police said they were still working to determine a motive in this incident and no arrest was immediately made.

An investigation into the shooting, officials said, is underway.
