Fire crews were called to a two-alarm fire in Allegheny County early Tuesday morning. Officials told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that reports of a fire at a home on Bank Street in McKeesport first came in around 4:52 a.m. and that smoke could be smelled from four blocks away.Around 40 to 50 firefighters responded to the scene. Officials said two people were evacuated from the home, and flames were shooting out the back of the building. They added that they were able to get the fire under control fairly quickly, but what made it drag on was how the fire was hidden in different areas of the house. The cold and snow were also factors, causing icy conditions, and the snow made it difficult for crews to walk around because of how high it was. Officials said no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news. Sign up for our email newsletters to get breaking news in your inbox.
