BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A man was killed and two people were critically injured in a fiery three-vehicle crash at Street Road on northbound Interstate 95 early Tuesday morning, Bensalem Police said.

Police officers responded around midnigtht for a call involving a crash with a car and people trapped inside. Upon arrival, officers found a silver 2013 Chevrolet Sonic fully engulfed in flames. The driver had been ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Bensalem Police said that two passengers were removed from the burning vehicle and taken by Bensalem EMS to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. Police said the passengers — Farruh Homidov, 43, and Askar Narziev, 39 — were listed in critical condition.

Bucks County Coroner Patti Campi told Patch Tuesday morning that her office would be conducting an autopsy on the victim, whom Bensalem Police identified as Timur Khabelov, 44, of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Bensalem Police said a preliminary investigation determined the Chevrolet Sonic was speeding as it approached the I-95 interchange. The car then ran a red light at the northbound ramp intersection and hit a Dodge Journey that was exiting the highway from the northbound direction.

The Chevrolet then went airborne, crossed the center median, and struck a Honda Accord that was stopped in the left lane of westbound Street Road. The Chevrolet came to rest in the roadway and subsequently caught fire, police said.

Members of the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the vehicle fire, police said.

The entire incident was captured on Bensalem Township Police intersection cameras, police said.

This crash is under investigation. Police said they have not ruled out drugs or alcohol that may be involved in the crash, pending autopsy and toxicology results.
