Following the Governor’s executive budget address, Infinite Erie and community, civic, and business leaders will convene on Thursday morning to review key elements of the proposed budget. Following the meeting on Thursday the 2026 Infinite Erie Playbook will be introduced.

“Governor Shapiro’s proposed budget builds on past momentum and provides Erie with tools to compete in a new era of growth,” said Infinite Erie Executive Director Kim Thomas. “This overview helps local leaders understand how state investments connect to regional priorities and where coordination will matter most.” 

Highlights of the Governor’s proposed budget for Erie’s development include: 

$550 million to support business expansion and economic competitiveness, including: 

$10 million increase for the PA First Program 

$100 million Innovate in PA 2.0 tax credit  

$9 million increase for the Agriculture Innovation Grant Program 

$10 million increase for childcare recruitment and retention bonuses 

Housing focused investments and policy reforms 

$1 billion Housing and Critical Infrastructure Investment Fund 

Expanded renter protections, including limits on application fees and updated tenant safeguards 

Modernization of the Municipalities Planning Code to support housing development 

Incentives to increase housing supply statewide  

$18 million increase for career and technical education, apprenticeships, and workforce training
