BETHLEHEM, PA. – The PIAA team wrestling state tournament kicked-off with preliminary and first round duals. The District 11 3A champs from Nazareth meeting with District 3’s Central Dauphin.
At 145 lbs., Nazareth up 4-0, Jack Campbell taking on Central Dauphin’s Elliott Miller. Campbell gets the reversal in the third, en route to a 18-3 tech fall. Blue Eagles up 9-0.
Next at 152 lbs., Chase Brown battling Central Dauphin’s Luke Hitchcock. Brown down two points late in the third, gets the takedown to win by an 11-10 decision. Nazareth up 12-0.
At 172 lbs., Nazareth cruising up 17-0, Dominick Tunison facing Central Dauphin’s Rashaad Pouncey. Tunison goes on to get a 20-4 tech fall. Blue Eagles up 22-0.
Then at 189 lbs., Brayden Zuercher taking on Jaden Moss. Zuercher makes short work of Moss, getting the fall at 46 seconds.
The Blue Eagles win the first eight bouts and advance, 40-16. They will face Council Rock South on Friday night in Johnstown.
As for Becahi, they were up in Scranton where the Golden Hawks, dispatched Owen J. Roberts in the pigtail round. Followed that up with a 49-20 win over Abington Heights as the Golden Hawks get to the state quarters. They’ll meet Boyertown Friday night.
