Robert Hess, the man accused of robbing and running over an elderly woman in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Ballston last week, has been caught in Pennsylvania.

BALLSTON, N.Y. (WNYT)- Joseph Hess, the man accused of robbing a 76-year-old woman at a McDonald’s in Ballston, then hitting her with a car, was caught in Pennsylvania.

NewsChannel 13’s Mark Mulholland first reported the news of the capture. Hess was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals at around 6:30 a.m. at a hotel in South Philadelphia. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office provided information about Hess’ possible whereabouts to the U.S. marshals.

Hess is being held at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He faces extradition to New York to face charges of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.

Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said he was grateful for the capture of Hess.

“I am incredibly proud of our investigators who worked tireless to locate Hess. I am grateful and relieved that he is off the streets and pray that justice will be served for the innocent victim,” he said.

A manhunt had been underway for Hess since the incident happened on Thursday, October 16. New York State Police also assisted in the search.

A Colonie hotel was raided by police Saturday night in search of Hess. Witnesses said police were at the Econo Lodge Inn Suites for over six hours keeping some of them out of their hotel rooms all afternoon.
