WE KNOW EMS RESPONDED AND A HELICOPTER WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. IT’S UNCLEAR RIGHT NOW HOW MANY INJURIES ARE INVOLVED OR HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE TRAPPED, OR SO LEARNING THAT INFORMATION. WE DO HAVE A CREW ON THE WAY TO THE SCENE RIGHT NOW. WHAT WE DO KNOW IS EXIT FOUR, WHICH IS STEWARTSTOWN AND THE MARYLAND LINE IS CLOSED OFF BOTH NORTH AND SOUTHBOUND LANES. A stretch of Interstate 83 is shut down following a “serious” crash in York County, according to the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company. A tractor-trailer and an SUV collided in the southbound lanes near the PA Welcome Center in Shrewsbury Township at 4:49 a.m. Wednesday. Dispatch said EMS has responded, and a medical helicopter was called to the crash scene. It’s unclear how many people are injured. I-83 closedInterstate 83 southbound is closed between Exit 4, Route 851/Stewartstown, and the Maryland state line. Traffic is at a standstill near the crash scene. There is no estimated time of reopening. The northbound lanes were also shut down but have since reopened. Surrounding roads in the area, including Main Street, which stretches from Shrewsbury Borough to Maryland, are experiencing delays. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
