Berks County makes an appealing day-trip destination from the Philadelphia region. This winter, Berks County Parks and Recreation Department offers a series of nature, history, and outdoor programming throughout February. Below are highlights of these upcoming programs:
A Winter Wellness Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, at 9 a.m. at the Berks Leisure Area in Wyomissing. The brisk, hour-long walk is free. Registration is suggested.Trail Tales arrives on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Berks County Heritage Center in Reading. Targeting children ages 3 to 5, the program focuses on the animals and plants that call the parks home. This activity is free, but registration is required.Junk Journaling Part 2 will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Berks County Heritage Center. The free art workshop focused on junk journaling requires registration.A Winter Tree Walk is set for Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 9 a.m. at Angora Fruit Farm in Reading. Open to adults with free admission, the program focuses on tree species during winter. Registration is required.A maple sugaring demonstration will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m., at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area in Reading. Participants will learn to identify trees suitable for tapping and syrup-making. This event costs $5 per person with free entry for kids younger than 3. Registration is required.
