EASTON, Pa. – Valentine’s Day is less than two weeks away and a non-profit organization in Northampton County is looking to spread extra love this year.
Inside the “Love you More” store in Easton, you’ll find Kelly Bauer.
“I am the founder of the ‘Love you More’ movement, and our mission is intentional acts of kindness,” said Bauer.
Doors officially opened on the 400 block of Northampton Street in Easton a few weeks ago.
‘Spreading kindness’: Lehigh Valley’s new cat café, thrift store help community programs
“I literally created a place that made me happy,” said Bauer.
Bauer said it’s a safe space that supports community members, domestic violence victims and seniors.
No one is left out.
People can shop at the thrift store section, cuddle with furry friends in the cat cafe and join several workshops.
The organization is rooted in love, compassion and connection, everything Bauer said inspired her first Valentine’s Day event, called “From little hands to senior hearts.”
“It’s free for children, and it is Valentine’s cards for our friends at Meals on Wheels,” said Bauer. “They don’t get a lot of love on Valentine’s Day and we are here to change that.”
Arts and crafts already line the tables for children and Cupid, to get creative.
“We’ve got all kinds of fun things for them to cut out and paste,” Bauer said. “We’ve got volunteers that are going to be here helping.”
Bauer said the cards will be dropped off to Meals on Wheels and will be given out on Valentine’s Day.
“Kids really do bring out something in seniors that us as adults just cannot. It’s sort of a throwback to where they were and where they were in their life at one point,” Bauer said.
The goal is for everyone to open a card with their meal.
“I would love to be able to get all 700 recipients a Valentine’s Day card,” said Bauer.
The event runs from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and all are welcome.
