BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A former two-term Bensalem Township councilman will run as a Democratic state representative in Pennsylvania’s 18th House District against GOP incumbent State Rep. Kathleen “KC” Tomlinson.

Bryan Allen said he will seek the office that serves residents in Bensalem Township and Hulmeville Borough.

As a Bensalem councilman, Allen introduced the first casino tax rebate for residents, stemming from revenue generated from the Parx Casino on Street Road. He also helped the township hire more police officers, fought developers on urban sprawl, and worked to get the first fire and emergency training facility in Bucks County approved.

Allen said his campaign will focus on providing economic relief and increasing the quality of life for residents. Allen said he will work to expand healthcare access, increase the minimum wage, prioritize public education, and relieve the tax burden for working families and retirees.

“Our community is diverse, dynamic, and full of potential, but we are facing unprecedented economic challenges,” Allen said. “I am running to make it easier to live, work, and raise a family here.”

Allen questioned Tomlinson’s leadership, stating that “real leadership means standing up for what’s right every time, not just when it is politically convenient.”

“I’ve dedicated my career to making our government work for people, not special interests,” Allen said. “I’m running because we deserve a Representative in Harrisburg who will do the same. My priorities are to increase state funding for education and help seniors on fixed incomes, make housing more attainable, expand healthcare access, and stand up for women’s rights.”

Allen serves as vice chairman of the Bucks County Water & Sewer Authority Board and as president of the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center.

Allen was raised in the township. He said his parents are both union members.

He is a 2001 graduate of Bloomsburg University and a 1996 graduate of Conwell-Egan Catholic School. Allen has lived in Bensalem for 37 years and is married with three school-aged children.
