Troopers said they were called to Danville State Psychiatric Hospital, located on Kirkbride Drive in Mahoning Township, at 7:13 p.m. on Tuesday for a bomb threat. An unknown male called police, stating that he planted three bombs at the hospital, according to investigators. Roads were shut down, and the public was told to stay away from the area while police investigated. According to state police, it was later learned that earlier that day, a current patient said he wanted to call 911 due to “not being happy with the facility.” His name was not released. Troopers said no explosive devices were found in the hospital. The investigation remains ongoing. Police said criminal charges will be filed at a later time.
