Warren, PA – The Warren City Council has appointed Savannah Casey to fill the vacant council seat left by the resignation of Councilman John Barbera.
Barbera announced in September that he would step down effective October 1st, as he and his family planned to relocate to Nashville. His resignation created an open seat that the council moved quickly to fill.
During the recent city council meeting held on Monday, October 20th, members reviewed five applications for the vacancy. Applicants included Joshua Archer, William Bussoletti, Savannah Casey, Jeffrey Eschborn, and former junior council member Bianca Villella.
After hearing from each candidate, the council narrowed the field to Bussoletti and Casey before ultimately voting to appoint Casey to the position. Her term will run through January 2027.
“I’m really looking forward to diving head-first into this and the next few meetings to finish up this year, and then all of 2026 to make an impact in my community,” Casey said, following her appointment. “I am humbled to have been selected and excited to be a part of this and to serve with all of the council members for the betterment of the whole community.”
Council member Wendy McCain said she was encouraged by the level of interest in the open seat. “It’s so exciting to have had five people apply for the city council position,” she said. “I thought that the dialogue and the questions were appropriate and in the end, I think the right person was selected.”
Other members of the council, including Mayor David Wortman, agreed with McCain, stating that it was very encouraging to see the public come out to volunteer for the position of council member and they are excited to see what the future holds for the city.
