Are you a fan of the popular Monopoly board game? Well, the game is getting a Philadelphia makeover, and they need some assistance from the locals.
The popular board game wants to know which landmarks or institutions in Philadelphia should get property squares on the game. We have a few weeks to nominate our local favorite spots to be on the board.
Monopoly Philadelphia Board Game
“I think our ultimate goal is to create a game where somebody picks it up, and they say, ‘That feels like home,'” says Tim Barney, the Game Manager for Top Trumps, a division of Hasbro, in a report.
There are a few boards for popular cities throughout the country. They have some for Chicago, Charleston, Houston, New Orleans, and now Philadelphia. But this time around, they want input from the locals.
“What we seek to find are the organizations, businesses, landmarks, teams, schools, anything that a Philadelphia lover really, really wants to see in the game that fully represents their community,” Barney says. “It’s a board that’s very much made by and for the people.”
Some of the top landmarks in the city that have become contenders include the Rocky Statue (of course), the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Liberty Bell, and more.
The game will hopefully debut in November. You can still submit in the next few weeks what you would like to be featured. The deadline to submit in Februyar 28. If you already thought of somewhere specific, submit here.
