Falling ice leads to gas leak at Central Middle School | Reading Area

READING, Pa. – Falling ice damaged a gas meter and prompted an evacuation at Central Middle School in Reading Wednesday.

UGI said the damage caused a leak, but the line was quickly turned off.

Students evacuated the building around 1:30 p.m. and remained outside for about a half hour while crews made sure it was safe to reenter.

Reading School District said the issue affected only part of the school, and repairs are being made.
