Dozens of patients had to be transferred after a fire engulfed part of a facility attached to a Pennsylvania hospital Wednesday night in Lackawanna County. The Dickson City Fire Department and multiple other companies were called to the orthopedics unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Dickson City around 9:40 p.m. The fire started and spread through the Scranton Orthopedics roof, an original building, attached to the fairly new Lehigh Valley Hospital-Dickson City. There was no fire in the hospital; only smoke and water damage, according to fire officials. 77 patients were transferred from the hospital to local facilities. Power to the building was turned off, and a half-mile-long section of Main Street remains closed as crews work on the scene.Crews battled the blaze as parts of the orthopedics unit collapsed. The fire was contained around 11:15 p.m., and the PSP Fire Marshal Unit is investigating the cause. Officials on scene say there were no major injuries.
