DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – You ask, we answer!
We finally have an answer to a questions we’ve been following for years: What’s next for the former Tokyo Seoul restaurant on Erie Boulevard in DeWitt?
The once-popular restaurant, specializing in Korean barbecue, sushi and Japanese hibachi, closed in 2017.
NewsChannel 9 | localsyr.com has taken calls and emails through the years from viewers upset with the condition of the run-down building and wanted to know if there were any plans to improve the property.

Fast-forward to 2024: property records show it sold for $750,000 to 3180 Erie Blvd LLC. The address listed for the LLC is tied to Syracuse-based real estate company Icon Companies.
That development company is the same group that owns Canalway Commons, at the intersection of Erie Boulevard and Bridge Street. That’s the plaza where the new Chick-fil-A is located.
Icon Properties President Graziano Zazzara Jr. confirms he along with the Giamartino family (who own Tully’s and CopperTop Tavern) own the property.
He said the former Tokyo Seoul will be demolished this month to make room for a new building that will have more than one tenant.

He also said a halal restaurant chain will open in one section of the building. The other tenants have not been announced.
Zazzara said the building is expected to be completed this summer.
The area in and around the intersection of Erie Boulevard and Bridge Street has become a magnet for development. Chick-fil-A, Shake Shack and CopperTop all opened last year. There’s also a plan to to tear down the old Mixer’s Grill to build a Taco Bell. The developer behind that project hopes demolition can begin in April.
