We have an update tonight on an animal cruelty investigation we’ve been following. The Erie County Police Department and the ANNA Shelter continue working to bring justice to a miniature Australian shepherd named Prince.

Prince was shot at close range in the head and was found dead in a dumpster behind a Broad Street store earlier this week.

The executive director of the ANNA Shelter, Ruth Thompson, says that while the investigation is still in its early stages, investigators are making progress and moving in the right direction.

“For us to watch how serious it is now, how seriously this is being taken by law enforcement, by the public — again, we’re going to do everything we can to bring justice to this animal and maybe make an example of a few people so this kind of thing just stops.”

Authorities urge anyone with information to call the ANNA Shelter at 814-572-5913 or the Erie Police Department at 814-870-1125.
