A woman is facing several charges after driving onto a sidewalk outside Pittsburgh’s Westinghouse Academy and injuring a student and a teacher in October, court documents state. A new criminal complaint states that Nickeya Mitchell was driving down North Murtland Street when she ran through a stop sign and turned right onto Monticello Street. According to police, Mitchell continued turning right and drove onto a sidewalk, hitting a Westinghouse teacher and student. Both victims were taken to the hospital, with the student still in critical condition.Court documents show Mitchell claims to have been trying to avoid a box truck. She admitted to having a beer earlier in the day and failed field sobriety tests. Mitchell’s blood alcohol level came back as 0.15 percent.
