PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Hokkaido Seafood Buffet, on Browns Hill Road in Squirrel Hill, because of an imminent health hazard.
An inspection on Thursday revealed that the eatery was operating without water and without any functional toilet rooms.
The inspection report noted that the people in charge of the restaurant had failed to notify the health department’s Food Safety Program of those health risk.
In order to reopen, the restaurant must:
Restore water and notify the health department of its resumption.Flush pipes, faucets, and drinking fountains and run cold water faucets for at least five minutes.Flush, clean and sanitize beverage dispensers, glass washers, ice machines, coffee/tea urns, dishwashers and all other equipment and fixtures connected to the water.Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.Remove and replace any water filter (pads or cartridges or similar) that may be connected to any
water lines.
Wash, rinse and sanitize all wares, utensils, and food contact surfaces.
A “closed” placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or kitchen or if it has been operating without proper permits. It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a “closed” placard.
