Mercyhurst’s student run fine arts, and literary magazine, Lumen has recently been recognized as a REALM First Class magazine. This recognition comes from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and it is the highest honor awarded to student literacy magazines. The magazine has had facility guidance from Greg Brown and Jodi Staniunas Hopper.
In this year’s contest there had been 456 student magazines involved from 44 states along with Washington D.C. and six countries.
Lumen had been amongst 135 publications that received First Class recognition. This award recognizes commitment to student creativity through visual art, design, poetry, and prose.
