Easton police are searching for a person they say stole $700 worth of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits from a city woman.
City Police Lt. Joseph Alonzo told lehighvalleylive.com the victim reported losing her SNAP card on Jan. 26 near Sixth and Northampton streets.
The woman then noticed $700 was missing from the account, which the federal government provides to low-income families monthly to purchase nutritious food.
The suspect used the $700 at various city downtown businesses on Jan. 26 and Jan. 27, Alonzo said. The victim reported the theft on Jan. 27.
Police described the suspect as a male between 50-60 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, who appeared in surveillance videos wearing glasses and a hooded gray sweatshirt under a yellow and navy jacket.
