A Moosic man fled from police attempting to pull him over after he failed to stop at a stop sign, according to criminal complaint.

While fleeing in a pickup truck, Austin Kenyon, 19, hit a station wagon and injured the woman driving it, police said.

Kenyon, of 187 Buckingham Heights, faces a felony charges of fleeing and eluding police.

According to the complaint, at about 7 p.m. on Jan. 12, officers spotted a pickup truck headed east on East Lackawanna Avenue, whose driver failed to stop at a stop sign.

At the end of East Lackawanna Avenue, the driver hit an embankment, turned around, and then headed west on the roadway.

As officers were following Kenyon with lights and sirens activated, he failed to stop at a stop sign for a second time at East Lackawanna Avenue’s intersection with Underwood Road. The truck made a left unto Garfield Avenue and then travelled south onto the 100 block of South Valley Avenue.

The driver, later identified as Kenyon, drove seven blocks before hitting a station wagon as he turned onto Rock Street.

The driver of the station wagon told officers she was injured.

At that point, officers lost sight of the pickup truck.

Later that day, officers contacted Susan Edwards, Keynon’s mother, who put him on the phone. Keynon told officers he was a passenger in the pickup truck at the time of the incident and provided the name of another man who he said was the driver.

Officers called the other man, who said he wasn’t in the pickup truck and hadn’t seen Kenyon for an extended period of time.

Officers called Kenyon back on Jan. 13 and, upon the urging of his mother to tell the truth, admitted he had been driving.

Officers noted Kenyon had been driving 50 to 60 mph on roadways on which the speed limit was 15-25 mph.

Police noted the driver of the station wagon Keynon hit was forced to miss several days of work due to her injuries.

Kenyon also faces charges of failing to stop at the scene of a crash and recklessly endangering another person.

He is awaiting preliminary hearing, according to court records.
