In this week’s 16 To The Rescue, we meet a 6-year-old Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix named Dolly, who has an irresistible face and cannot resist being a lap dog.
SCRANTON, Pa. — “How cute she is, how could you resist that face? Come on,” said Clara Cammerota, Friends with Paws Pet Rescue.
It’s hard to resist Dolly’s face, and Dolly cannot resist a human’s lap. Dolly is currently being fostered through Friends with Paws Pet Rescue at a home in Scranton. She’s been there since November, but she had a different foster home in White Haven for about a year before that. Dolly is 6 years old and is a Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix.Â
“She’s very people-oriented and loves being around you. She loves a car ride, she likes going for walks. Kathy walks her two or three times a day. I would prefer a fenced-in yard, if we let her out there, and there are stray cats and squirrels, she just goes after them,” Cammerota said.Â
Dolly was found as a stray, so rescue workers don’t know anything about her past, but they think she was probably dumped because of how she is with other animals. She must be the only pet in the home, and if there are neighbor dogs, her family will have to know how to handle her. Rescue workers say that is why she is having trouble finding her forever home.Â
“She’s like the Tasmanian devil. She turns into another dog completely. So if you don’t have a good grip on her leash, you would lose her, and she would just take off, and thankfully, her foster knows all, and that has never happened,” said Cammerota.
But Dolly is sweet as can be, rescue workers say she would sleep with you if you let her. She is fully housebroken, knows basic commands, and does very well at home all day while her foster family is at work.Â
“They take her to the local brewery down here. We just have to watch if she gets mouthy with another dog; we just move her to the side. She will need some training; they are working on that. But she’s been like that for six years; it doesn’t happen in a day,” said Cammerota.
Dolly can go to a home with older kids or no kids, and will need to be groomed often. Rescue workers are certain she will make a family very happy because of how silly and loyal she is.Â
“Once you’re her person, that’s it, she doesn’t want anyone else,” Cammerota said.Â
