Leonard Bird, III
OBITUARY
Leonard Bird III, 76, of Ransom Twp. died Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Geisinger C.M.C. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Emily Sherman who died on July 30, 2024.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Leonard Jr. and Irene Cucura Bird. A graduate of Abington Heights High School, Class of 1967, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam war. Prior to retirement he was employed as a welder for over 40 years.
Leonard was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a proud NRA member and nothing made him happier than deer hunting especially during muzzleloader season. He especially loved his dog Kody, his favorite companion, who passed away last year.
Surviving are sons, Kevin and wife, Melissa, Pine Grove, Todd and husband Casey, Kentucky, and Lenny and partner Kathy, Scranton; grandchildren Kaylee, Ashley, and Lenny; great-grandchildren, Liliana, Mauriana, and Callie; brother Mark Bird; sister Luann Seguin; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother David Bird.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held Sunday from 2-4 pm in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
