Erie Chief Fire Inspector Don Sauer stated that the roof of 412 Parade Street partially collapsed. So did part of the attic. Due to the damage being so extensive, firefighters have not been able to get inside and determine a cause. As of now the fire is being ruled “undetermined.”

Sauer says a firefighter who fell through a floor and was hurt has been treated and released from the hospital.

The fire did spread to a home next door.

Four people between the two homes are getting help from the Red Cross.

Unfortunately, two cats and a dog died.

All on-duty city firefighters were called out to the scene Thursday afternoon when it happened. “Off duty” firefighters were then called in to cover the rest of the city.

A fire that occurred earlier this evening has left multiple people displaced and had killed one dog. Crews responded to the fire around 3 p.m.

The fire began on the second floor of 412 East 23rd and spread to the attic area. The fire continued to spread next door to 408 East 23rd where residents had already been evacuated.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
