TOWANDA, PA. (WENY) — A Towanda man could spend the next 19 years behind bars after he was sentenced for leading police on a high speed chase.

Mitch Johnson, 33, was sentenced on charges of Burglary, Evading Arrest on Foot, Fleeing and Eluding, Possession with Intent to Deliver and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

He was charged after an apparent police chase the began in Athens before ending in Candor. The chase reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour at some points.

Johnson will be required to serve a minimum sentence of almost 5 years, but could serve a maximum of 19. The Bradford County District Attorney’s office says he has a lengthy criminal history.
