HAVEN, an independent music venue located in a church on the corner of Atwood and Bates streets, is closing indefinitely.
The Post Genre and HAVEN team announced on Thursday that they received a stop-work order from the City of Pittsburgh Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections in an Instagram post. All events at HAVEN have been suspended.
Post Genre, an Oakland-based music project, first used the space temporarily for three concerts in February 2024. In December 2024, Post Genre announced HAVEN would open as a full-time music venue the following month.
According to the post, the Post Genre and HAVEN team were working with the Pittsburgh Innovation District, their landlord and the City to obtain the proper long-term permitting, and they had permission to operate in the short term before receiving the stop work order.
“We are awaiting more information regarding what this timeline looks like, but there are a lot of moving parts and much uncertainty as to when this can reasonably be completed,” the post said. “There are many people and organizations working vigorously on this process, but what we once thought would be completed in a few months is nearing its third year due to many setbacks out of our control.”
The post also said all ticket sales are closed, and people who bought concert tickets will be refunded.
