An Allentown man has been convicted for his role in a 2022 ambush killing in the city.

Xavier Grenon, 27, was found guilty by a jury Friday on charges of conspiracy to commit homicide, attempted homicide and one count of aggravated assault in the shooting that killed Najeer Lane, 22, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan

Grenon faces a maximum sentence of 60 years in state prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in April.

The trial lasted five days before Lehigh County Judge Thomas M. Caffrey.

Grenon’s co-defendants in the case are Frederick Antwan Marks Jr., 26, and Legious Robert Minder Jr., 23. Marks is still awaiting trial while Minder pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and other charges and was sentenced to serve 40 to 80 years in state prison.

According to authorities, Lane was riding in a car driven by Bless Jones, whom the three defendants agreed to meet at Trout Creek Park in Allentown on Aug. 31, 2022.

The defendants allegedly ambushed Lane and Jones while they were traveling to the park. Lane died from a gunshot wound, authorities said.

Jones escaped to his home, where the defendants later arrived and allegedly fired 12 rounds at Jones and another unnamed person. They missed both of them, authorities said.

Lane’s death occurred five years after his brother Parris was shot and killed in Allentown.
