SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An art exhibit is now on full display in Scranton, showing off high school-aged students’ creative abilities from our region. The Everhart Museum in Scranton received more than 500 pieces of artwork this year.

The artwork was submitted by 40 schools across 15 counties.

Students are recognized based on originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal vision.

Event organizer’s say they hope this yearly event creates the next generation of artists.

According to the Scholastic Art Awards, five recipients of the top award will advance to the national level.

There, they will be considered for the prestigious American Visions Award.

“Their artwork is the best in the region. They have truly captured art as an American vision of the country,” Everhart Museum Visitors Services Supervisor Delmar Guziewicz explained.
