Richard L. “Dick” Young
OBITUARY
Richard L. “Dick” Young, 91, of Reading, passed away January 26, 2026. Born August 19, 1934, in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Edward E. and Betty Mae (Fasnacht) Young. He graduated from Coatesville High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Air Force, including time stationed in Greenland.
Richard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University and enjoyed a long career as an engineer with Met-Ed, GPU, and GAI-Tronics.
Richard was the beloved husband of Patricia (Zuwiala) Young, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. He is survived by his children: Richard S. Young (Terry) of Aberdeen, NC; Pamela A. Skrocki (Kevin) of West Lawn; and Gregory E. Young (Maria) of Reading; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Richard will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family, his sense of humor, creativity, and unwavering optimism, which inspired all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the McGlinn Cancer Center.
