Marty Richard Gibson
OBITUARY
Marty Richard Gibson, 85, of Mohnton, passed away Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 23, 1940, in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Martin Gibson and Anna (Kadingo) Gibson.
Marty was a 1958 graduate of Reading High School. After graduating he went on to work at Talbot Knitting Mills from 1960 to 1984 as a presser and then moved to the Mohnton Knitting Mills from 1984 to 2009 as a cutter.
In Marty’s free time he loved watching sports. He had a strong passion for his Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles, and Duke Basketball. When March would roll around he would have his March Madness bracket filled out and was ready for his favorite month of the year. He was an avid rock music fan, especially Three Dog Night, who he saw in concert 7 times. He was a family man at heart and enjoyed family gatherings on the holidays.
Surviving are three children: Michael Gibson of Mohnton, PA; Christine Harris of Citrus Springs, FL; and David Gibson, husband of Gwen (Mertz) Gibson of Blandon.
Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jacob Gibson; Kenny Harris; Jessica Ruiz; and Kevin Gibson, as well as six great grandchildren.
A service will be held Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. A visitation will take place prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the same location.
